 Data protection as a topic generates heated public discussions (including recent issues around "the right to be forgotten" and the use of personal data). It also impacts on dealings with employees.

The regulatory landscape is changing. Significant financial penalties for data protection breaches and codification of the right to be forgotten in the proposed EU Data Protection Regulation are likely to elevate this issue to the top of agenda for in-house lawyers and HR professionals. Given the potential consequences, businesses need to ensure that they keep on the right side of the law to avoid regulatory, financial and reputational risks.

We are keeping track of developments and at this webinar, first of a series on this subject, we will share our knowledge with you. At the webinar Christine Young (Partner, Employment) and Jatinder Bahra (Associate,Outsourcing, IT and Communications) will:

  • Update you on trends in UK employment-related data protection, including:
    o    data subject access requests;
    o    data protection in the context of investigations and transactions;
    o    provision of personal data to third parties and overseas;
    o    processing personal data; and
    o    the consequences of breaching the legislation.
  • Outline what the future holds for employers under the new EU Data Protection Regulation.
  • Identify what steps you should be considering now to make your policies and documentation fit for purpose.
