 Data protection as a topic generates heated public discussions (including recent issues around "the right to be forgotten" and the use of personal data). It also impacts on dealings with employees.

The regulatory landscape is changing. Significant financial penalties for data protection breaches and codification of the right to be forgotten in the proposed EU Data Protection Regulation are likely to elevate this issue to the top of agenda for in-house lawyers and HR professionals.
